Bargaining Update

The FIU administration and the United Faculty of Florida (UFF-FIU) are pleased to announce a tentative salary agreement for the 2024-27 academic years. This tentative agreement recognizes the success enshrined by our new Preeminent Research University designation and aligns with our continuous commitment to fostering a thriving academic environment and supporting our meritorious faculty.  This tentative agreement does not become effective until it is ratified by both the UFF-FIU and the FIU-BOT.

Annual Salary. As a top-line number, the teams agree for a ~10% raise for eligible faculty, contingent upon the availability of new recurring funds, over the next three years. For this academic year, all eligible faculty will receive at least $7,500 in additional compensation. The details are as follows:

  • Year 1 (2024-25): A 3.5% (or $3,500 for 9-mth faculty or $4684.61 for 12-mth faculty) retention raise and a $4,000 one-time bonus.
  • Year 2 (2025-26)*: A 2.0% (or $2,000 for 9-mth faculty or $2,676.92 for 12-mth faculty) retention raise, and a 1.25% merit increase, with any one-time bonus dollars negotiated in spring/summer 2025.
  • Year 3 (2026-27)*: A 1.0% (or $1,000 for 9-mth faculty or $1,338.46 for 12-mth faculty) retention raise, and a 2.25% merit increase, with any one-time bonus dollars negotiated in spring/summer 2026.

The tentative agreement also includes important improvements to assignments, evaluations, copyright/works, grievance & neutral, internal resolution of policy disputes, performance improvement plans, and a host of others.

All in-unit faculty are welcome to attend any one of the ratification meetings ahead of the ratification vote on September 10th and 11th. The schedule of ratification meetings will be as follows:

  • Monday, August 26th 2:00pm via Zoom
  • Wednesday, August 28th 2pm in person on MMC in Mango 470
  • Thursday, August 29th 10am in person on MMC in Mango 470
  • Friday, August 30th 11am via Zoom
  • Tuesday, September 3rd 3pm via Zoom
  • Wednesday, September 4th 5pm via Zoom
  • Thursday, September 5th 1pm via Zoom
  • Friday, September 6th 2pm via Zoom
