MOU Ratification Notice (UPDATE with results)

  9/3/20 UPDATE: Faculty have voted to ratify the MOU with an official tally of 286 YES to 1 NO UFF-FIU is holding an online ratification vote on the MOU from Tuesday, September 1st to Thursday, September 3rd. When voting opens, detailed instructions and an access link will be sent to faculty’s FIU email via Election Buddy, a secure third-party election service. As shared on July 6th, we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the administration concerning the impact of COVID-19 on Fall faculty work. Both parties will move forward with scheduling ratification votes. UFF-FIU Legislative Affairs Chair Jim Burns: On June 29th, Governor DeSantis signed the state budget for fiscal year 2020-2021. An announcement on the Governor’s Website noted that despite the challenges confronting Florida due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the budget “ensures the state’s priorities are protected and funded.” An examination of the $1 billion in spending vetoed by Governor DeSantis, however, demonstrates whose interests he does not consider a priority. Updates from June FIU-BOT Meeting

Important happenings from today’s FIU-BoT meeting: 1) The BoT voted to ratify the CBA amendments faculty ratified in spring. This means we officially have an updated contract! 2) The BoT also approved the Guidelines for Reopening plan put forth by the administration. CBA Ratification Meeting & Voting

Prior to the ratification, all in-unit faculty are invited to attend a virtual ratification meeting on Thursday, April 23rd from 11am-1pm via Zoom(link and password sent to faculty emails).
