How to Sign-up
There are three steps to join:
- Fill out the Membership Authorization Form (MAF).
- Fill out the Membership Application through our parent union the FEA.
- Note: This link will be shown to you after you fill out the MAF in Step 1.
- Setup your dues deduction in the FEA Membership Portal.
- Note: Once you finish the membership application, you will be automatically logged into the FEA membership portal.
Once you have completed all three steps, the central office will process your application, usually within about a week.
Sign-up Help and Tips
- If you have any questions or issues, contact membership@uff-fiu.org.
- Use a non-FIU email (state law prohibits the union from sending certain kinds of communication to university email addresses).
- UFF dues are 1% of your base salary, which will be deducted automatically from the bank account information that you supply upon sign up.
- When entering your salary information, be sure NOT to enter a comma or decimal point. If you don’t know your exact salary, give your best guess.
- When selecting your payment schedule, you’ll have several options which we have explained in detail below.

21 payments will be deducted over 10 months – or roughly biweekly with your paycheck if you’re on a 10-month contract. |

Bank ACH – 26 (FY 2023-2024) |
26 payments will be deducted over 12 months – or roughly biweekly with your paycheck if you’re on a 12-month contract. |

Payroll Deduction – 26 (FY 2023-2024) |
DO NOT choose this option. Payroll deduction was banned July 1, 2023. |

* Note faculty can choose to pay their dues under any payment schedule regardless of their contract type. In all cases, the total dues will amount to 1% of the faculty’s base salary. |

Detailed Instructions
- Close all browser windows or reboot the device. (Very important)
- Open a new browser window and log in to https://portal.floridaea.org/ and click the “Set Up Now” button:
- Click “Get started”
- On the “Select your institution” screen, do not select your institution!
Scroll to the bottom of the window, then select “Link with account numbers”:
- Then enter the routing number and if you are presented with a screen to select your bank, scroll down to click on the link “Enter account number instead”.
- Then enter the account number, the full name as listed on the bank account, type of bank account, and continue through the process.
- Please remember that the micro-deposit may take 24 to 48 hours to show in the banking account and in the memo field of the bank record will be a pound sign (#) followed by a three-digit code to be used in the member portal for verification.
