Officers and Senators must be dues-paying members of the UFF-FIU Chapter. The duties of the Chapter officers can be found in the Chapter By-laws on the UFF-FIU website. Many who are new to union activity run for Senator. The role of Senator is a good way to contribute and learn more about the union.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The duties of a UFF-FIU Senator are to attend Chapter Council meetings (in-person or virtually; 90-minute meeting about two or three times per semester, except during Summer), serve on a Chapter committee, and (strongly recommended) attend the Statewide UFF Senate (once in Fall on a weekend for two half-days in-person, and once, virtually, in Spring).<\/li>\n<li>The term of office for Chapter Officers and Senators is one year, beginning on the first day of Summer term, May 11.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>The UFF-FIU Elections Committee solicits nominations (especially self-nominations) for Chapter Officers and (especially) UFF-FIU Senators.
