Frequently Asked Questions About Voting
Clear, straightforward answers to ensure every faculty member knows their rights and voting procedures.
Who is eligible to vote?
All members of the UFF-FIU bargaining unit are eligible to vote. This includes tenured, tenure-track, non-tenure track, instructional, clinical, and research faculty, as well as librarians. You do NOT need to be a dues-paying union member to vote on the contract.
How does the ballot work?
Voting is conducted by secret paper ballot in a private voting area. You will mark your ballot to either RATIFY (YES) or REJECT (NO) the tentative agreement and place it in the secure ballot box.
Can I vote at any campus?
Yes! You can vote at any of the three polling stations (MMC, BBC, or Engineering Center) regardless of your home department or where you teach most frequently.
Can I vote online or by mail?
Under Florida public sector collective bargaining law and Florida Public Employees Relations Commission (PERC) rules, contract ratification votes must be conducted in person at physical polling stations.
