Dear colleagues,
Last Thursday, your bargaining team shared its counter-offer with the administration. Cognizant of the shortfalls in legislative appropriations FIU faces this year, we feel that it is important for the administration to demonstrate its investment in faculty and recognize their work propelling FIU into its position as a preeminent, top-ranked university. Our counter-offer reflects an effort to recognize budgetary constraints while still protecting the salary gains that faculty need to confront the high cost of living in South Florida.
To that end, we have proposed for 2025-2026:
- A flat $2,000 retention raise to the base.
- A $2,000 one-time retention bonus.
- A $1,000 one-time merit bonus
We have also asked the administration to recommit to the raises previously negotiated for the 2026-2027 year: A 1.0% (or $1,000 for 9-mth faculty or $1,338.46 for 12-mth faculty) retention raise, and a 2.25% merit increase, with any one-time bonus dollars negotiated in spring/summer 2026.
Updated Date: Bargaining resumes this coming Friday (8/29) from 3:30-5:00pm via Zoom.

We are thankful for the high number of faculty who have attended bargaining sessions so far as silent observers: your presence makes a real difference, and we encourage all faculty to continue observing bargaining sessions over the coming weeks.
We also encourage you to use this UFF-FIU Zoom Background and/or this profile picture.
In the meantime, please reach out to Bargaining Chair Terrence Peterson at bargaining@uff-fiu.org with any questions, feedback, etc.
Warm regards,
UFF-FIU Executive Committee
